The #Hill_Apartments is a landmark, affordable housing project in the Westboro neighborhood of Ottawa.

Cut-Fill=Hill: The strategy used the excavation material to create an augmented landscape to create a ‘Community Court’. This elevated hill gives the project its name. The new permeable play encourages social interaction and outdoor activities among the residents.

Sustainable Practices: The iconic green wall at the entrance showcases a commitment to sustainability. It not only adds aesthetic appeal but also contributes to environmental sustainability. Affordable Actions: By using 4′ and 8′ increments construction costs are significantly reduced by minimizing cutting and waste.

Accessibility and Inclusivity: The provision of affordable and accessible housing units in an exclusive neighborhood is a noteworthy aspect of this project. It demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity and social responsibility.

Form & Function: The angled lobby and landings create a unique and welcoming space for residents. Simultaneously the design decision was inspired to facilitate the movement of large furniture pieces into various apartments.
